When I were little, I used to read some kind of Indonesian encyclopedias for children, titled “Kenapa Begini, Kenapa Begitu?” (Why This, Why That?). There are many simpe explanations about science, biology, astronomy, and many many other things.  It came out with so many editions, it’s great!

More or less, this book served the same content, only it’s spesific about phenomenon in our body. If you think science is hard or boring, you really have to read this book. It’s interesting! From the words that Mrs. Brigid Avison used, until the illustration, I can bear with it till the very last page, meanwhile I don’t really like reading science books.

One of the great explanation about our body

Maybe you’ve ever wondered many things that happen in your body. I have. I wonder how or why we sneeze or why my teeth just keep falling out. It’s quite hard to explain it to you one by one, because Mrs.Brigid Avison pointed out many different facts about bodies, but interestingly, with the very simple way.

I’m actually curious about hiccuping, because I never get it. And it’s so annoying too, that I need to understand the reason. After I read this book, I now quite understand why hiccup happens. Sometimes, it’s just your body alarm. It’s a real credit for Mrs.Brigid Avison for explaining everything so simply.

I love all the illustration, too! The illustrator team must make it as real as possible so it can teach us about body, meanwhile they never forget that they must attract the young readers at the same time. If you buy this book, which I recommend you to do, you can see how the illustrators juggle between the realistic picture and cartoon picture. Interesting, to my taste.

When I read this book to my son, he was coincidentally being sick, but he still enjoyed the book. It’s another extra credit for this book. By the way, you can see Our Kiddy Heroes’ review about this book by clicking this link : Kiddy’s Choice : I Wonder Why My Tummy Rumbles.
